Abstract
Microinvasive carcinoma of the uterine cervix(Stage Ia) is the earliest stage of squamous carcinoma and has a 98% of 5 year survival. This article analyzed the subjects of 81 patients, diagnosed to microinvasive carcinoma in the department of
Obstetrics
and Gynecology, Wonju college of Medicine. But only 71 cases were accepted I our study and 10 cases were rejected after preliminary review. The retrospective approach to the clinicopathologic study of microinvasive careincma of the cervix based
on
their
chief complaint, clinical finding, cytology, histologic type, lymphovascular permeation, lymph node metastasis, residual tumor on hysterectomy specimen and their correlation etc. was taken from January 1981 to December, 1992. Many of women were
asymptomatic and had normal appearing cervices. Pap-smear contributed to the detection of microinvasive carcinoma. The histologic type of the microinvasive carcinoma was almost large cell non-keratinizing type, but no correlation with depth of
invasion,
A case of positive vaginal cuff was observed in a patient treated by simple hysterectomy. Lymphovascular Permeation by tumor was observed more predominantly in patient with above than 3mm. There was no correlation with the residual tumor on
hysterectomy
specimen, lymphovascular permeation and invasion depth of cancer. There was no surgery-related death in this series.
